In other news the Vapriikki Vintage was a huge success, we had so much fun with Cherrie performing in the middle of the Lady Ostapeck exhibition and historical clothing. I also made lots of new contacts and saw some lovely people and had a blast.

Next week the crazyness gets even more crazy, it is only a few weeks before the 5th Helsinki Burlesque Festival is here and I'm doing a brand new act called Jungle Queen and us Holy Curves! have something special coming up for you as well. And since our costumes are nowhere near being ready, I'm getting kind of nervous wheter they'll ever be. Well we'll see.

But before the festival there is still other things to do, like travel to up north in Tornio and Levi with our darling Itty Bitty Tease Cabaret's Tin Ker Bell and Kitty Lit Ter. Fun will be had, let me tell you that alright!

And after that a quick relaxing day in Helsinki and on the 7th of Feb me and Cherrie are making another quick trip, but this time to Riga to see this never heard band..... rammstein.

As I have mentioned before, I will be there the whole weekend selling my products but ALSO performing on both days. Do come by and say hi, since I'm hanging out behind my table alone (sobsobsobsob)!

AND don't forget that today at 5 p.m during our burlesque show, I'm performing my brand new act "Winter", so you should definately be one of the first ones to see it as well! Tomorrow we are doing our Holy Curves! duo and of course, that is also something you don't want to miss ;)

Pretty new things!

In the beginning of December we took some new photos of my dresses and skirts for my web boutique. Model was once again my dear Cherrie and photographer Jarno Lindholm.

I really like the results!

So what should you do now? Do some serious shopping of course! Oh and remember, my winter sale is also going on strong on the website! Plenty of products with massive discounts!

Currently I'm working on some brand new dresses and prints for the upcoming spring/summer. So you just wait for it! I'm soooo excited myself!

At the end of Januray there is this fantastic event in Tampere, Vapriikki Vintage. As you might have thought, I am there selling some of my dresses and accessories BUT also performing on both days, on saturday me and Cherrie are doing solo numbers (I'm doing a brand new one if I'm allowed!) and on Sunday it's time for a duo act.

So I highly recommend all of you who are able to come and enjoy a weekend full of vintage!

Best New Year ever

My New Year's Eve went absolutely perfect. Lot's of darling friends, good food and drinks, fantastic fireworks at the nearby lake...

Oh and this one thing that totally topped it all:

I am finally one step closer to becoming a Mrs.! He proposed to me after spending 8½ years together, one hour after the year had changed. I couldn't be more happier!!

Soooo... guess what I'm going to babble a lot about in this blog in the future?

Haluaisitko oppia laittamaan kutrisi kuin lempinäyttelijälläsi vuosikymmenten takaa? Tai kenties oppia muutaman meikkiniksin vintage-henkiseen meikkiin?

Tässä workshopissa voit viettää iltapäivää herkutellen, kaunistautuen ja kuunnellen teemaan sopivaa musiikkia ja halutessa jatkaa iltaa viimeisen päälle laitettuna johonkin ihanaan kuppilaan! Tämä on samanlainen workshop kuin aiemmin (13.8, 3.9 ja 1.10) järjestetyt!

Tarkoituksena on opetella helpohkoja kampaustekniikoita, joilla saat itsesi loihdittua hiuksesi lempi vuosikymmenesi tyylin mukaisesti! Käymme läpi eri tekniikoita 20-50 luvuilta, opettelemme erilaisten kiharoiden tekoa, asusteiden käyttöä ja myös erilaisia arkikampauksia. Punaisena lankana kuitenkin, että kaikki olisi melko helposti toteutettavissa myös kotona!

Lisäksi workshopissa opettelemme muutamia meikkiniksejä vintagetyyliseen meikkiin. Kaikk workshopissai tarvittavat materiaalit (pinnit, harjat ym.) ilmoitetaan varmistuneille osallistujille sähköpostitse.

Christmas

So I'm slowly starting to set myself to the Christmas spirit and close the computer and just relax and enjoy. This year we are spending the Christmas for the first time in our home and I am so excited because I got the chance to make our home look cozy and nice. As you might already know, I am not the best person in taking photos, but here is some snaps of our Christmas home

Another weekend, another show!

Tomorrow I'm heading to Helsinki to perform with my gal Cherrie once again and this time it's something different. The evening is filled with performances by burlesque artists BUT also from "traditional" strippers. So this is a great chance for everyone who is thinking what is the difference, or is there a difference to find it out.

I am so excited about this and planning on doing my "Garage Rouge" act that is a fine mixture of classic bump'n'grind and tongue in cheek humour.

Rest of my weekend will be filled with sewin and decorating for my new acts and for the new Holy Curves! act that has it's premiere at Helsinki Burlesque Festival 2012 in February. (psst a good gift idea is to buy tickets to the event before they sell out!!) We had our first rehearsals with Cherrie today of our choreography and it went so well that I even can't believe it! Now I am even more excited about the whole act. We have also started to prepare the costumes we are going to wear and this is what I needed to do for them to look as fabulous as we want;

Yep I'm cooking some feathers. Looks like sea weed to me!

Yes. I have been very quiet lately. Sorry about that. I have just been feeling not that interesting as a person and that my life isn't that particulally amazing that I should blog about it. I find it interesting and amazing, but do you?

And why am I feeling like this? Well because none of you ever comment on my posts anymore! :D (So if you would like me to post something more often, please leave a comment <3 )

Nevertheless, here is something that has been happening this weekend:

I went to Ofelia Market once again and had fun and saw some lovely people and friends and also a fashion show. My models were the BEST since all of them were my friends and fellow burlesque pefromers so they surely knew how to strut on catwalk!

So YES people, I'm in Rome with my mom. And this time more than 24 hours like before.. We have only been here for two days now and oh boy the things we have seen and eaten and enjoyed! And we still have much to do before sunday, when we leave.

I'm so looking forward on performing at the Micca Club again on Friday, since last time was such a blast. Love all the people and the atmosphere!

That's it for now, soon off to see the Colosseum and Forum Romanum. Also saw the Pope today, he had some stuff to say I guess. Ha! Toodles!

After the big show

The foot partied the hardest...

So my Horror & Tease event is now over and I couldn't be any more happy about how it all went down. I've only gotteng good feedback from the audience, performers and the bar's owner, so all in all, everything was bloody fantastic. We'll see if there is going to be a next one next year... ;)

Anyway I'll post some more performance photos from the event when I get some from the photographers, but before that, here is a video clip from the show and couple of interviews and also a few photos taken by my gal Cherrie!

A Quick update to all of you who are planning on coming to my Horror & Tease Show! Last friday there was a big crisis with the venue since Sputnik has been bankrupted, so I needed to find a new venue (altough first after the news I just felt like giving up..) but don't you worry since I FOUND ONE! The party will now be held in Iskelmä Baari, which is in Siperia Shopping Centre, Satakunnankatu 18!

The tickets will be sold in advance through my web boutique until next monday (24th of October), if you want them to be mailed to you. You can get advance tickets from Nitrobabe througout next week though!

Fall/Winter Collection is here!

Today we had the photoshoot of my new fall/winter collection and since my honey Pauli took the photos, I ended up editing them and putting them online already! How productive am I? VERY.

In the photoshoot I had once again some gorgeus ladies as models, some familiar faces like Niina and Cherrie, but also a new (unbelievable gorgeus) face, Jonna! And let's not forget the gorgeus hunk in the photos.. the black mystery.. SAKARI! He was soooo adorable and wanted to kiss us and snuggle, but work was supposed to be done first! But yeah, he is a one big dog, even though it doesn't really show in the photos. Anyway I had a blast and I'm so happy with the results! Some behind the scenes photos can be seen in Nelliinan Vaatehuone!

Only a month until an event that I have produced myself for the very first time! I am so exicted and glad that I have such an amazing line up for all of you guys to enjoy. Wedding

Yesterday I was pleased to be part of two of my friends wedding. And oh how beautiful it was.
I was also responsible for the bride's dress, so it got me a little nervous. I will post some photos later of it and other dresses I have made during the summer.

Before the consecration. I was so excited and nervous for them! Oh and my tattoo lady's shoes. Pretty eh?

The venue was an old factory in Pispala, here in Tampere. Perfect atmosphere for the couple! See Pauli peeking from the bushes..

This is what I wore to the wedding. Since the bride wore black, I was happy that I was able to wear the love dress, white with red hearts. What could be more suitable for a wedding?

Oh and I was the lucky gal who got the bouquet. Though I was the only girl wearing 6 inch heels and I had to fight for it! So maybe soon you will see photos of me getting married. Or not. Pssst Pauli!

Oh my God what a weekend.. I had so much fun and lots of drinks and laughed more than in a long time. And our gigs went well also! Hopefully we will be there next year as well... :)

I had a wonderful easy going sunday. Pauli's mom was visiting us in Tampere for the weekend and she hasn't really been to Tampere before for such a long time. So we decided to take her on a little sightseeing of our dear home town.

First off we went to the famous Pyynikin Näkötorni where you get the best doughnuts in the whole city! They are freshly made and still warm when you eat them. Mmm!

On the walk back we went a detour and looked at some of the most gorgeus houses in Tampere. Yes I'm planning on living in one of those when I'm all grown up and rich. As if.

Next stop was Arboretum, which is propably one of my favourite (if not favourite) place in Tampere. I used to live quite close to it and quite often I took walks in the garden. It is absolutely gorgeus with it's beautiful flowers and plants!

And here is something you haven't seen in a looooong long time! An outfit for today! It's nothing that special, a random dress I have wore once before. But the snood on my head (yes the red one), those are going to be on sale on my web boutique very soon! Just thought of letting you know if you might be interested

Tomorrow it's time for another hectic week taht includes plenty of work at my atelier, a tattoo appointment (!!!!), a first dance class, workshop and a gig at TAFF and my darling Cherrie's birthday. That's quite a lot actually, we'll see how I'm going to make it!

So a few weeks back I spent almost a week in Helsinki and had 3 different photoshoots. Now I have received some results and I'm quite happy with them. First I had a photoshoot with Marko P. I wanted to take some Bettie Page inspired photos and honestly it was quite some work, I'll tell you that. You can just take a look at this photo down here and see it for yourself

From the next photosession I haven't gotten any photos yet, but the third one was with the talented Saara Salmi and Marco Melander from Atelieri Onyxei Haapala and they wanted to take photos of us Holy Curves! with a Moulin Rouge inspired theme. I hope there will be more photos to come but here's a sneak peek!

And to other news. My next few weeks are quite busy with working on my new collection, trying to organize some events (I'll tell you more about those later, you just wait!), work on my new acts, host a vintage look workshop and also do some gigs. Like these for example:

I'm proud to be part of Tampere Fetish Factory again, last time I was there a few years back doing my Edward Scissorhands act and now we are conquering the stage with Cherrie and we are premiering our spanking new act that will leave everyones jaws dropping! There is still some work ahead though, but it will be awesome, I'll tell you that!

The week after TAFF it's time for another great event; Turkkusex. I've never been there before myself but Cherrie has been going there for quite a few years now and she tells me it's quite a party. I'm sooo looking forward to it!

So I just finished watching the movie Water for Elephants on Blu-ray and I read the book a week ago when I was visiting my darling's granparents and was a little well, bored. I'm not much of a reader type, but I read that book in two days and that's fast for me. It was absolutely brilliant. I had been waiting to see the movie for quite some time now, since it's about 1930's circus. Inspirational? Hell yeah. But I didn't realize that it was written based on a book, and like I said, the book was sensationally good and I was a bit afraid would the movie do any honor to the book and I wasn't actually disappointed, the movie was good too. It was very inspirational with the whole 1930's look and the clothes and so on were a treat to the eye.

So if you would like to have a good hint on what to read next, go and find that book. I hope you'll love it. I know I did.

How to make one look pretty?

Since Nata put me into the test to see what beauty products are a must on my make-up table, I needed to take some photos of the stuff I use on daily basis. I decided to skip the stuff I use in the shower since there isn't anything interesting going on. So here we go, these things make me look less like the zombie that I am waking up.

Since I use hot rollers quite often (well not on daily basis but still whenever I need to look a little more proper and don't want to put my hair up) I need to have some good products that keep my hair in a mint condition. One thing I've learned is that it is actually cheaper to buy a hairspray that isn't the most inexpensive, since usually you don't have to use the whole bottle at one time unlike the cheap hairsprays.. So my trustworthy friend for over two years now is Tigi's Hard Head. And for the base product before I burn my hair with rollers is TREsemme's heat protect. This one is cheap but gooooood! The rule only applies to hairspray..

So I try to use body lotion on my body whenever I remember but during summer it is easily forgotten. In the wintertime my skin is so dry that I would like to rub lotion in it all the time. I usually go with Dove's lotions since they are quite cheap, smell good and have a nice consistency.
The other bottle on the right is my body make up that I wear when I go and have a gig. I have a skin that gets bruised REALLY easily (whenever Elviira is "baking" on my legs in other words getting ready to sleep, I get these teeny tiny bruises shaped like cat's paw on my thigs..fun? No.) so I really need this product to look not so beaten up. I have bought few bottles of these from USA and I've been really happy with them.

Even though I forget to moisturize my body, I never forget to do so on my face or hands. My face is really dry most of the time and it took me a long time to find a product that smoothens the skin out really quickly, smells nice, has a nice consistency and isn't too expensive; voila here we have garnier's day cream that sligtly smells like roses. I have many hand creams, usually I try to carry one in my purse all the time since my hands get quite dry, but I'm a bit obsessed with moisturizing them so they never actually get that dry. I just hate the way even a bit dry hands feel when working on certain materials at work (fake suede and satin... brrrh!)

So moving on to the actual make up thingies. I am in love with Grimas' eyeshadows. I use one that is the same colour as this one in my Edward Scissorhands act all over my face since you can just mix that eyeshadow with water and you get excellent paint for your whole face. That one on the photo is just for my every day use since I always put that in my eyes before any other colour, that way the other colour really pops out well.

My true love: the eyeliner. We do have a love hate relationship, but when I found this Rimmel's product it was pure love. I'm one of those people who need to have the little brush attached to the eyeliner rather than it being more pen like. That way I can paint really refine lines in my eyes. Once again, very inexpensive.

Do I need to say anything? This seems to be quite a favorite of many people. It's simple, it's been around forever and I love it.

This helps with everything, wheter I have cat scratches on my arms, my nipples are sore from the tassel tape or my lips are chapped, Bepanthen is the key. I use this almost every day, especially during the colder seasons.

This thing gets me far whenever I don't want to use an actual lipstick. Yes it's a basic lip liner, but I just love that colour and it looks good when I first put on some Bepanthen and then add this! As you can see, I'm a fan of rimmel...

These specific bottles of nail polish are my new finds that I bought from the sale but the main thing is that I need some white polish as well as some red (during winter time I usually also go for a bit darker tones like purples and stuff) and make myself a nice "moon" manicure (as you can see from most of these photos in this entry). When I don't have the time I just paint my whole nail red. Red is the word.

My absolutely favourite scents. I'm so happy that we found Anna Sui's shop from New York and that Pauli bought me that black bottle. It is the perfect scent for a night out and if you want to feel a bit mysterious. And yeah, you can't get that one from Europe.. I know what I'll be buying next time I go to NYC. And yes the other one is Victor & Rolf's Flowerbomb.

So that's it folks! These are some of the products that are a must in my top 10! And now anyone who want's can do this, I'm not up for throwing any names in the air!

THE best breakfast place that we found very randomly. It's called Leña and the staff and food were amazing and the prices were very reasonable! I highly recommend if you want a good breakfast to start the day with.

I bought myself a whole lot of bling.. and it was cheap.

I fell in love with New York although I thought it wouldn't be that fantastic experience for me. Actually I'm missing the city at this very moment and would just looooove to hang out in there. As you might guess, this isn't the last visit to New York on my part.

We stayed in a very reasonably priced hotel in Chinatown called Hotel 91. It was better than I was thinking and it had no roaches running around! Chinatown was very nice experience, I was very glad that our hotel wasn't in the center of Manhattan. This way we got some taste of the real New York life, not just the tourist part of it.

I had two shows in New York and I'm so glad to have those experiences and memories with me.

Soho was the best place to shop and we were stupid enough to go there after almost all of our money was gone.. but I still managed to buy 6 pairs of shoes and three perfumes and and and.. stuff. We accidentally stumbled on Anna Sui's own shop in Soho and I just had to buy some fragrances from there that you can't get from Europe.

All and all, it was a week full of food, food, walking, great experiences and memories. I have to go back. New York now has a spot in my heart.

Las Vegas 2011

Weekend

That is what my weekend was mostly about. Hanging out at home in our balcony with my honeys, swimming in the lake, cleaning up a bit and making delicious food and having some drinks. It was actually somwhere around 10 or 11 p.m when that photo was taken, as you can see through the window.. it wasn't very dark.

Tomorrow it's back to work and back to making wedding dresses..phew!

I'm performing here in two weeks and can't wait! I heard that the first Kokonut Kult event "Taboo" was a success, so here's hoping that this one will be too! The event is held in a pretty new restaurant in Helsinki, Kokomo, which is a Tiki inspired restaurant/bar. At the moment Tiki is very inspiring thing to me and I'm hoping to get some more inspiration from the bar to make our balcony a bit more Tiki inspired (at the moment it's inspired by.. nothing).

Anyway.. my point was to show you some stuff I am looking forward after our trip to USA. Since we just moved to this new neighbourhood 3 months ago, I haven't had the chance to enjoy in the summer mode. So I have started to sniff around and see what my summer might be like.

Only less than a week and these gals (and my mr. P) are travelling across the pond to United States of Awesome (America...)! I'm perfoming ton the 2nd of June at Vegas at the Orleans Hotel and then I 'm also performing in New York twice! 9th of June at Casa Mezcal and 10th of June at Hotel Chantelle. Could I be anymore excited?

This is probably what me and my gal Cherrie will be doing the whole time in Vegas since there are 99c Margaritas served in our hotel every afternoon..

Photos are from last Saturday after our workshop with a wonderful bachelorette party and after that I had my School Reunion and it was actually a lot of fun!

Home part 2.

I welcome you to my new kitchen. Here are some before and after photos (the before ones I got from the real estate agent, thank you!) so you get a very good look what a difference it is with just small changes. Hope you enjoy!

The photo that comes first is always the "before" one!

One small detail that I insisted on putting the effor to was the handles on the cabinets, I figured that the silver shaded ones didn't really do any justice to the colours that were in the kitchen already and of course I do like the vintage feel to them a bit more as well. So it's not such a huge splurge but makes a difference in my opinion!

One thing that also made a huge difference was the change of wallpaper. I absolutely hated the one there was before since even though it was in almost gold shade (I know it looks greenish in the photos) I didn't think it suited in the kitchen, since I wanted my kitchen to be bright and cute. The gold can be seen later in some other rooms so you have been warned!

In case someone is wondering what wallpaper that is, it's from Falsterbo and I bought mine through Värisilmä. And the whole kitchen project was kind of weird all over since I don't like any of the colours in the wallpaper if they were just plain colours, but I do love how they all match together with the birds. And I thought i would never decorate my home with anything pink but here we go.. and I'm quite surprised that even my Mr. wasn't really against it! So I got my lovely little kitchen to cook in and that is why I made us some delicious food on saturday:
Breakfast.
Dinner. (I went to buy some easter candy as you might see..)

I even made some focaccia from scratch!

Anyway I would love to hear some feedback on the kitchen project :)

The New Collection photoshoots!

Finally we had the photoshoot of my upcoming collection last Saturday at American Diner along with my lovely models; Cherrie, Oona and Niina and the very talented photographer Jose Ahonen. And I think I wouldn't have made it without my lovely assistant Lilli.

So now you can get a sneak peek of some of the collection's dresses on Niina's Nelliinan Vaatehuone blog, since she took some behind the scenes photos. Oh and that's me in the photo (not looking as glammed up as the model girls) in my lovely kittycat dress that I would wear all the time, seriously, all the time (but I do have to wash it sometimes and let for example my customers to see that I do have other clothes as well).

Anyway, the collection should be in the web boutique within few weeks, so get ready to do some kick ass shopping for the upcoming summer! Woop!

So yours truly will be performing at this years Burlesque Hall of Fame with a solo number! Hooray! I'm not competing though but it's really nice to get the chance to perform anyway and the judges said that my act was "a must see"! And what act am I going to do?

Well Edward of course! The only thing I don't like about that act is that no one is going to recognize me afterwards without that mask on :D So maybe I shall hang out in Vegas with one hand as a normal one and one as the scissors-one... maybe. Anyway the trip just took a whole another turn to even more better since my gals Itty Bitty Tease Cabaret also made it and it is going to be one hell of a parteeeee for the whole time and my bunny mr. P doesn't have to hang around by himself since most of the Bitty-dudes shall be there as well. Agh now I just can't wait!

Hectic days

Those flowers are now actually dead but they are kept me warm for a long time though it looks like that outside and now they have promised it's going to be somewhere around -15 degrees this weekend? And you call this spring? HA! But anyway I have decided to start buying fresh flowers into our kitchen whenever I can, they bright up the scenery so much. And they smell good.

Anyway I'm still working on our new home but I actually might have something to show you, our new toilet.... glamorous? This is where we (almost) started:

Hi there.

I have been wanting to post you photos of our home's makeover but HA our camera is somewhere in the middle of all these boxes and stuff.. so yeah we have moved in finally, last week to be accurate and of course we got ourselves a nice stomach flu so the house has been a wreck for the whole week. Now our bedroom is starting to look a bit more descent and we can actually sleep in a bed instead of matresses. But soon, darlings, soon I will post some pictures when I get a hold of that camera and some extra time.

So what I was about to come and tell you was that I've been a member of Fintage - the finnish vintage society for only a month (?) now. I know it's ridicilous how I haven't been to the forum or anything before that. Anyway now Fintage has launched their own blog that has different columns on different vintage related subjects. So I was asked to write a burlesque column every once in a while about the events in Finland and all other interesting burlesque related news. So here it is for all of you (finns) to read: Burleskin Pyörteissä - blogi. Everything you need to know about burlesque in Finland is now under the same roof!

Bergamo / Milan calling!

So today I'm off to Italy again! First off we will travel to Bergamo, since the flight is straight from Tampere to Bergamo and we will stay there until Friday (I have heard that it's a beautiful old city). Then we're off to Milan for the Milan Burlesque Award on friday and that's the day also when we are both performing! I can't wait since Italian audience (at least in Rome) is great and there are all these amazing performers that I haven't seen in a long time or have never met but I am more than happy to!

We've had some major pro blems with our baggage, since we need to pay the travels our selves, we got pretty cheap (again) and only took one bag (mx 15kg) to split and then the cabin baggage. Well how do you fit 2 perfomance outfits (we should have 2 each but don't have the space and we are not sure if we are going to win and do another show) and all the things you need for five days of travel into one bag of 15kg for two people?! Yeah I don't know either. And if the baggage problem isn't enough, we are both a little sick at the moment and I'm crossing my fingers that it would stay as "little" and not get into a major fever/flu. Traveling when you're sick is the nicest thing ever! NOT.

Oh and if you are wondering who I am referring to with "we"? Well me and Cherrie of course! It's a good thing she's coming along because well we get along so well and I know it will be a blast even though if we both would hang out in our hotel stuck in bed. So I'll catch you later! Now I'm off to figure out this baggage thing again... gah!

So the news I was about to tell you guys was that Tease Queens will no longer book new gigs together as a group, but we are going to do the gigs that have already been booked. But don't you worry, it's not the end of the world, since all the three of us will continue performing as a solo artists, but me and Cherrie have also decided to continue as a troupe (and we will have the same acts as Tease Queens did, only as a duo versions) and our new name is Holy Curves!

Busyness!

Once again I've been too busy to write anything but as I have mentioned many times before, there is just so many things going on at the moment. You just wait for some news! That photo is a slight hint but that's all I'm telling you know. You have to wait for THE day that news are announced officially! Anyway that photo is from the Chicago afterparty which was quite fun and that trumpet player incisted on taking a photo with us. And it came out quite nice I think :)

So yes I will be moving to our own home with Pauli on the 1st of march and before that I have to visit Milan and pack up our apartment in boxes and do some work on the side, so maybe you will understand why I'm being so busy. Next friday we will be heading to the new place to do some measuring so I can go and buy some gorgeus wallpapers and figure out how to organize our furniture. The most important thing has already been bought; the wallpaper for my walk in closet! It's a small one but boy do I love it! It's going to be vintage pink with some gold pattern..

I try to take some before and after photos of the apartment for you so you cand judge my decorating skills!

Oh and HBF was fabulous, if someone was curious about that! :)

Rome!

So last monday I finally headed my way to Rome for the first time ever (to Italy also for the first time ever) to perform. As I was staying there for one night only, you can imagine that my sightseeing experience wasn't what it should be when you go to ROME. Goddamnit. Well I did get some shots from the famous things! Anyway here is what went on:

But I managed to do some sightseeing and all the photos are taken from the taxi.. Hooray.

And then I got to the venue! I got this superyammee drink from a great bartender. I asked for something fruity! How cute is that!

Then it was showtime and everything went soooo unbelievably well and the crowd was awesome! The whole club was packed and it was a monday night.. not in Finland part 2.

Can't stop smiling after the show! I LOVE ITALY!

I also made some new friends:

Dixie Ramone, me and Blanche Lenoir. After that we had a backstage afterparty! Fun times!

After all the partying I had a history lesson with Alessandro (the dude on the leopard printed jacket) at 4 a.m. It was fun to learn about the buildings in the are and Roman history. After that it was time to hit the bed, since I had to leave the next day at 11 a.m.

So good morning Rome! After that I left and was home at 8 p.m on Tuesday. So that was my trip to Rome in 36 hours. Hopefully the next time will be a bit longer..

Lack of it.

Inspiration that is. I have a lack of it at the moment.

I've been reading to multiple fabulous blogs and feel like I have nothing interesting to tell, can't take good photos, nor have a good place to take them.. so what I am looking forward to more than anything at the moment is that me and my mister will find our OWN place in the near future. After that I can decorate the place just the way I like it and then I would have a place to take photos of that wouldn't make the photos look even crappier than they are.

I would also like to know if there is something that you would like to see more in my blog? I'm a bit confused at the moment on what I should write or post, what other people might find interesting (though I'm not writing this just to other people but to myself as well, and mostly to myself).

So many changes going on in my life at the moment that it feels like I am looking forward to things in the future all the time rather than focus on the present. But I think I've always been like that.. it just seems that the things in the future are more interesting things than the ones I have going on in the present.

Well you have to admit, our own house (read: appartment) is really something to look forward!

And I wish it would be summer already.

New Year, new things!

So my new year was absolutely faboulous, I'm not going to do an entry about it, but if you are interested on how the shows and everything went, you can go and see some photos here at Rudinism. But I had fun!

But in other news! What am I looking forward the most in this month? Well on Monday the 24th I'm going to perform in Rome and at a venue called Micca Club. I've never been to Rome and this time I'm only staying for about 24 hours so not that much tourist sightseeing for me then. I'm so excited anyway and hopefully everything will go well and hopefully they will like me :)

Then on the 29th of this month we have a fantastic opportunity with The Tease Queens, performing at a Burlesque themed afterparty of the one and only Chicago-musical in a Theatre here in Tampere. We also have another gig at the same kind of party in 30th of April, and that is the date when people in Finland celebrate Vappu so we don't have to make any Vappu plans then either! Christmas eve

I spent the Christmas eve at my parents, where our whole family was together again after a while.

I had made myself a brand new "christmas shirt", which hat golden (!) leopard print on it. Sassy,
you say?

I had to do my hair in a bit hurry and it was completely wet after being in sauna, so this is what I came up with. Finished with a silk christmas flower (that i stole from my moms bouquet..ha!)

(yes I hate it too that the hair is sort of floating around.. mrrh! And yes no lipstick, since christmas is all about eating.)

All he need is a cigar on his hand and his ready for the next Godfather film.. My dude!

Plenty of presents.. and I got the nicest ones! (Maybe a post about those later, if you are interested?).

A perfect winter day

Waiting for my bus in -20C (I was in a car accident last saturday so my darling renttu won't be driving me around in a while.. maybe never :( and that is why I take a bus to work now ).

This is what I pretty much look like nowadays.

Today the weather was a bit less cold so my parents, my mister and my godson Rico went to the christmas market, bought our christmas ham and so on.

It was so nice to visit the Christmas market which was held in the middle of Tampere. Made me feel all christmasy!

And this is what I found from a local flea market. First I wasn't sure if I was going to buy it (it was 26€), but then I took a glimpse at the inside to make sure it's not broken.. and what did I find..

The whole thing was filled with vintage sewing equipments! Suddenly the price wasn't in my mind at all anymore.

I have plenty of these little pastille boxes in my atelier filled with needles and snaps and so, all of them I have gotten from someones grandma. This one might not be so different at all and I was eager to see what it held inside..

Vintage garter snap thingies! these are my absolute favourite things to find within vintage sewing equipments!

The box also included the owners old nametags with initials in them. How adorable are those? I wonder what the name of the owner must be, something swedish though 'cause all the things that were written by hand were swedish.

And this thing was a final guarantee that the box had found it's right owner! I mean come on, kitties on the labels! KITTIES!

So thank you some random grandma from Sweden (or Finland who also spoke swedish) for giving me this treasure. I will cherish it and love it a whole bunch.

Next Saturday 11th of December, it's time to make the Christmas a bit more rock'n'roll with some live music, derriere shakin ladies and amazing atmosphere! It's time for Devil's Lounge! Yours truly won't be shaking her things at the event and might not even make it. It all depends on if I still have some extra fuel on me to get back from a show in Joensuu on friday (6h drive then go and party (without drinking) and then drive alone to Helsinki when it's already night time..goddamn..). But you should go, its magnificent! I have two of my lovely ladies performing, LouLou D'vil and Cherry Dee who most of you might also know as the lady behind this blog. And addition to those gals there is some spice from UK, Kitty Bang Bang!

The party is also a record publishing party for Vulture Club, which is a great psychobilly band from Tampere! So are these infos enough for you to go to the party? YES! Tickets can be purchased in advance from Dog's Home.

As I already mentioned, next sunday I will be heading towards Helsinki for the Ofelia Market. It's fourth time for me and hopefully just as joyful as the past times! This time I won't be part of the fashion show (though I wanted) due to the lack of time of picking out models and organizing everything.
Anyway, this is a great market to come and make some christmas finds for the people in your life that deserve to get gifts. Why not buy the gifts from Finnish designers and people who make handicrafts? Go Finland! But anyway I will see you there!

And last but not least an event I am looking forward a lot! It's great to know in advance what to do on New Years Eve, since usually the eve is filled with plans that never work. Well this time it is going to work! I will be performing along with my gals LouLou and Cherrie of course, but with us is a fantastic boylesque performer Sir Willy Waterlily! And if you are looking for something else besides booties and boobies (are you, really?) there is also a magician Jose Ahonen entertaining you that evening as well! Yes the same Jose who is a great photographer as well! The music master of the evening is Mr. Willy D'vil so you better put some shoes on that you can dance with! Plus there is a delicious champagne bar by Martini!

Welcome to Porvoo

I think the photos tell more than words. This weekend we went to my mr's mom's place in Loviisa and it's right next to a gorgeus city, Porvoo that I've never visited before. This time I forced Pauli to walk around with me in the "Old city" of Porvoo. I just want to move there and have a cute little boutique/atelier and ride with my grandma bike to work everyday, ok?

Today is Finland's independence day and we have been independent for 93 years. I will celebrate the evening with my family: first a dinner at my parents place and then we will watch Presidents independence reception from TV with my mom and sister and gossip about all the dresses, what is good and what isn't.

I also lighted up a candle for my Grandpa Toivo (Toivo is hope in english) who was one of the soldiers in the war that got us independent. I miss him.

Winter

Yep. It's officially winter. Lately it has been around -20 c degrees in here and since I work on my atelier by myself most of the time, I have to admit, I don't really care how I look, as long as I'm comfortable and warm (some of you might think that it's odd to use the word comfortable in an outfit that also includes a tight lacing corset..ha!) since it's 15 degrees warm inside my atelier at the moment.. yes I'm freezing.

So since it is winter, I have started to wear my long time lovers, the Lapikkaat. (+ my best winter coat ever; IvanaHelsinki's Best Friends-winter coat, love it and got it for a bargain!)

When I get to my atelier, it's just as frozen.. so I have decided to make my only small window a bit more wintery/christmasy:

After work I get home to my two new favourite things in our home (addition to the sofa set that I haven't got bored of even the slightest!

Our new hallway lamp, has a sort of vintage feel to it, don't you think? And no it's not that dark in our hallway when the lamp is on!

And then my christmas present for myself. A dressing table. Loooove it! Now I just need to get a house to fit it.. believe me, I've been warming my mister up so that he would agree for us to try an get a loan and get our own home <3>

Jyväskylä-Mänttä-Tampere Vintage

My last weekend was extremely busy and I was driving around Finland doing gigs as well as popped by in the Tampere Vintage. I had loads of fun with my gals!

First up was Jyväskylä with a private corporate party. We expected the worse and it was pretty much that. But for the first time during our gigs and touring around, I've always shared a room with either Cherrie or LouLou but this time I decided to have a room for myself! And oh boy did I enjoy it. A large bed just for me and a very cozy room in all other ways as well. Not forgetting the charming snowy view.

Well the next day, after a lovely breakfast and some extra sleep (I read a book, the gals slept) we headed to another venue, Mänttä Klubi, which is a gorgeus mansion built in the 1920's and I had been waiting for this gig a long time, since the person running the venue, is a friend of my sisters and they had been very excited to get us to perform there in their little christmas party. Everything went absolutely perfect and as you can see, the venue was one of the best you could ever ask for.

They even had Villeroy&Boch china in there and believe me, that ain't the cheapest kind.. Above you can see our cozy little "penthouse" room, since it was at the top of the building. We had the whole floor for ourselves and Cherrie was saying that it reminded her of the Shining a bit too much so she didn't enjoy when I was sleeping and she was hanging out there all by herself (LouLou had already left for Amsterdam at 6 a.m.. poor thing).

And as you can also see, our rided was taken care of extremely well. Ahh bliss!

After we got home on saturday, I did some last minute things for Tampere Vintage and watched some tv (read: slept almost all of the time). At sunday I woke up at 6.30 a.m to start getting ready for the market.

It was quite ok, not so fantastic that I'd been expecting but I'll have to see if I will join the Helsinki Vintage sales people next spring since Id had to get a whole lot of things sold in there.. But all and all, a very tiring but happy weekend and next weekend it's time to chill at home, yay!

Oh yeah they "forced" me to be the mrs. Santa Claus for a christmas tree competition judge and since I didn't have anything else to wear, I wore my vintage nightie.. sassyness! It was fun though!

Tampere Vintage!

Less than a week and it's time for the second Tampere Vintage event! And for the first time I will be there selling my products with Venja D. Sign's Mirva! Do not hesitate to join us for a fantastic day filled with vintage finds, music and why not something for the Santa's sleigh.

Weekend (again)

You must be extremely bored with my "Weekend"-headlined posts, but since that is the only time something happens to me on a daily bases, that's what I'll write about.. eh.

Well anyway, yesterday me and Pauli got a day off and decided to go and do some christmas present shopping and we did make some great finds. So we spent the evening when we got home, wrapping the presents.

After all the shopping we went to eat at one of our favourite places in Tampere, New York, at least it was our fauvorite (or Pauli's) because the used to have a yammee bacon pasta with cream and a whole lot of parmesan cheese, but the meal was removed from the menu.. darn! Anyway the food is ok and mostly I like the atmosphere in there.

So I ate this ( I know, it's not low carb but this whole week has been a little "off the road" week for me, but next week I shall continue again!)

And oh I also got my nails done for the first time ever by my dear Cherrie! She is learning at this point so I was her guinea pig and got these for free. They are sassyness to the max in my opinion! Love them!

Rest of the evening I spent knitting, drinking some wine and watching Where the Wild Things Are... loved it as well! Today I'm off to work my arse off, since there is so many orders and I also need to work on my old show that has been under construction for a while. Next weekend it's time for some gigs after a looooong time! Can't wait!

Today I turned into a low-carb chef and I am really happy with the results! So what did I do that completely stole my heart? Hamburger with beet meat stake and some guacamole.. yam-mee.

First I made the "bread". Which is a low carb version of a bread (haha there is a wheat flour package behind, don't be fooled! :D). I put all the food directions for you separately, since you don't have to use these together all the time!

So what you need for the bread is:
(you get four buns out of this)

2 eggs
2 table spoons of quark or thick yooghurt (for example greek yoghurt)
2 tea spoons of baking powder
1.5 dl of almond powder
(2 table spoons of wheat brans, I didn't put any)
150 g of grated cheese

Whisk the eggs and add the grated cheese. Mix the "dry" ingredients in a separate bowl and then mix it with the curd egg -mixture. Now put the oven on for 225 celcius (437 fahrenheit). Make four round thingies on the baking tray and when the oven is ready, put them in. There is no actual timing that how long they should be in the oven, but you'll see when they get a lovely brown colour.

I know.. eww says the bread! But it's delicious believe me!

Beet meat steaks:

You need 400g of ground meat
2 small beets ( you can choose fresh ones or ones that are in vinegar,
I was lazy and went with the vinegar thingies)
1 egg
2 table spoons of wheat flour / breadcrumb
salt
black pepper
white pepper
thyme

Slice the beets (if you bought fresh ones, boil them first well but so that they are still just a little bit firm), put the beets and meat together in a bowl, add all the other ingredients and start mixing it up! I used a wooden splint, since I didn't want my hands to be all red from the beets.

Make smallish steaks out of the meat mixture with your hands and fry them on a frying pan with some butter (or oil if you insist..) for about 5 minutes on both sides.

It was my first time making guacamole so I won't share it with you. I'm hoping to get brilliant in it and then I can share it with you. Ha! (It was good though..)

Oh and if anyone is interested on how my low carb life is going? I've lost a few kilos and I haven't stressed about this whole eating thing that much. And I haven't been to the scale in more than a week so don't know if something has happened!

Weekend

My halloween weekend wasn't that halloweenish as usually since I didn't attent an actual halloween party (actual means that you have to be a zombie or something..). The party that I went to had a funny hat- theme and I thought that my hair was funny enough. Ehh. But anyway here is my weekend as photos, it's pretty random but hey so was my weekend.

Went to the Elvis Suomessa- event to sell my products. Luckily my mom was with me, so I had someone to talk to for the 3 hours..

After the event I went to pick up my mr. from work and we rushed into friends party that was a halloween/housewarming party. And I met up a very charming gentleman called Arttu.

I kinda wanted to take him home with me.. he is 15 weeks old. Agh!

And Arttu's momma hanging out with Pauli and Kaapo the cat.

People werent't drunk.. or wait a second? That's Juha with his gorgeus new facial hair. That's all for the photos that can be shown from the party.. at least if I want to keep some kind of dignity.

Sunday was mostly just hanging around at home and being lazy. I didn't have a massive hangover though that made me extremely happy but I decided to spent the day doing absolutely nothing anyway. Above you can see my new favourite food: low carb bread. It has no wheat in it and it is sooooo goood!

Sunday night was our Halloween-evening and I wanted to watch a zombie movie, that was my wish and Pauli wanted to watch that legendary Freddy Krueger film. Well despite the promising cover of the zombie movie, I have to say that it was the crappiest most poorly done thing I have seen in a while. We propably watched less than 30 minutes of it. And I do enjoy a ridicilous zombie movies that you can laugh at, but that one was so bad that it didn't even make me laugh. What a waste of time and money. Next time shall be better and hopefully I will get to see this soonish.

Nazi zombies, can you think of anything better? I can't!

What to do on Halloween?

There is this magnificent happening coming up on Halloween, saturday 30th of October ! It's organized by Tampere's own Elvis! It's an annual event where all the Elvis fans of Finland come together to listen, well Elvis, played by Finnish bands and this year there is also some burlesque and some great shopping possibilites! That's right, I will be there selling my brand new collection (at least pieces of it, it's a little tight schedule to be able to make many of the clothes but anyway) as well as some "older" things.

There is an afternoon event as well as an evening event, the afternoon event is from 13-16 and I will be selling Olivia Rouge products there for sure. I haven't decided on the evening event yet, but still you should go there as well!

So today (and this week) started in a crappiest way possible;

a) the renovation at my atelier is actually finished but on friday when I was moving furniture around I found some mold in the walls.. = there is some kind of water leak somewhere and it might need more renovating.. and this again isn't my fault!

b) I started to have an awful ache in my gums last weekend because I have a wisdom tooth making it's way to the public and it has a sharp angle to make my gums hurt soooo bad. This thing doesn't really help with my problems on my jaws (can't get my mouth open properly).

c) I feel like everything I do at work is crap and I'm not good at anything.

d) My bank is screwing with me and I hate it.

But since I'm still here breathing and haven't moved to another civilization, I found something that made my day:

That film is one of my favourites and it inspires me a whole lot, of course I could have found this at a normal price few years back, but since I'm such a miserly person, I decided to wait until I found it on sale. Well it took me the two years to manage to find it at my local movie rental place where they were having a -50% sale off of everything. So the price for the movie? 2,50€. But I highly recommend the movie mostly for the inspiration that it might bring!

Other than that I started a "new" life an began to eat on the low-carb way so lots of veggies and meat for me. It's almost been a week now and I still haven't weighed myself.. I'm getting kinda nervous that will I like the number on the scale or not. And this is not something that I feel like I have to do to look better, I've just come to the conclusion that I'm not feeling well with the diet that I have now (read: eat whatever you want), so I decided to try something different. And my mom has lost over 10kg in the last six months so it can't be that bad... Anyway if you are interested, I will share it with you how the process is going and are there any results.

So now it is time to give you some great hints on what to do next weekend if you are around Tampere area.

First of all, me and my gals from Tease Queens have a gig on Friday, 1st of October at Yo-Talo. There will be some tail shakin' and some swinging hot music played by excellent dj:s : John Wayne and Mr. Willy! I know I need to leave my corset at home and put some dancing shoes on since the night will be almost a work out with all the jiggle and wiggle!

And when you have gotten yourself together after the night of fun at Yo-Talo, you should come and see a movie called On Tour (Tournée) which is a movie about burlesque and most of the cast are fellow burlesque performers from USA, like Dirty Martini, Kitten on The Keys and Julie Atlas Muz! So how could this film not be something that you have to watch? I have no idea!

Well there is this thing that just made my whole day soooo much more perfect, actually it did my whole week just soo much more perfect. Just look at what I found from a local flea market:

And the price? 100€ for all three. It was love at first sight and might be love forever. I'm getting those into our home hopefully in the beginning of next week. AAGH I CAN'T WAIT!

Other than that my weekend will include: sauna at my parents, some wine with my mom, dinner and a movie with my mr. on saturday, pilates and a movie at home on sunday. So no gigs this weekend! I'm actually very pleased since there is nothing more that I would like to do than spent the whole weekend at home or at least here in Tampere doing all kind of nice things. Ahhh. And I won't go to my atelier either this weekend, which is really rare.. so I'm going to enjoy and enjoy and enjoy a little bit more of this weekend off!

I'ts a burlesque beer with feathers!

So yes the party is now over and it was quite nice, unlike last time, this time I could actually remember everything.. wonder why. The acts were all quite fab, but I didn't like the fact that after the last performance "normal" crowd started to pour in and suddenly the burlesque people (at least me and friends) felt like the "weirdos" even though it was "our" party! Especially when the people were staring and laughing at all the costumes that people had put on. So the end of the evening was quite blah for me, but then I went home and slept well and managed to go into my first lesson of pilates on Sunday. So it was a success anyway!

So I didn't take that many photos and the ones I took were so horrobul that why post them.. Anyway here is some footage and you can see our outfits!

Busy weekend full of burlesque!

This weekend is quite filled with burlesque, tonight I'm performing with my gals at Love Hotel, Tampere. It's somekind of afterparty for Fashion Days that are held here in Tampere and in Jyväskylä. Anyway it's nice to be performing in Tampere again! Hometown oh hometown! And I will do my flamenco number again for the second time and I'm hoping it goes a bit more well than in Ship Ahoy!

Then tomorrow it's time for the 3rd Circus meets Burlesque Festival. I'm not performing but my gal LouLou is and I just like to go there and have a nice evening of real burlesque party where I don't have to perform. My inspiration for the outfit is this:

I'm thinking that I'm more of an tight rope walker than a ballerina tomorrow and my outfit will be completely black (and nothing similiar to that one above other than the tutu..). I just need to figure out my hat somehow, or something to put in my head. Anyway a huge tutu that I'm not going to be able to wear in a bus... ha! But hopefully I'll remember to post some pictures of the outfit and the atmosphere later!

10 things I like in a totally random order:

1. Carousel horses / Rockin horses

That is a small collection of my horses at the moment. I buy things that have carousel or rockin horses on them from time to time, but I'm not completely obsessed about this thing. I think they are the cutest thing even though I'm not really a fan of the actual real horses. And later I might have something like that decorating my skin as well, can't wait!

2. Frank Sinatra (swing music)

The first artist I started to listen when I got inspired by the whole 20's to 50's era and the style. I know he is a little obvious to be mentioned in this category but I find him to be a true legend and his songs are the ones I have been listening to the most from this era. i am also very proud that I have been performing in Las Vegas on the same stage as Sinatra along with Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr did all those years ago. To me it was a great big deal and I won't forget it.

3. Christmas

I have always been a christmas person and few yers back I took it to the extreme and started to wait for christmas on August and listen to christmas songs when I was home alone and made some presents for people. Well nowadays I don't have the time to be that enthusiast about Christmas but it does have a warm place in my heart. Usually the actual Christmas eve is quite normal, but I think it's the whole waiting for it and the atmosphere all and all. I do make all the Christmas cards myself still and try to make as many of the presents I give to people myself as well. Some of my friends might say that my Christmas-crazyness is the one thing that they would take away if they could!

4. Tea

I've never drank coffee. I have tasted it when I was a kid but after that never drank it or had the urge to do so. So here is my start of the morning, my favourite tea mug from Iittala and two of my favourite tea flavours. Mmm!

5. London

My favourite city of all the cities I've been to in the world. This is a place where I would move into if I had the chance. I've visited London 4 (or 5?) times now and I just can't get enough of it. It's love with a big L.

6. Cupcakes

Ok this one you might have guessed already if you think of my few other posts like this and this. Well anyway I love the way the cupcakes look and I love the way they taste and I love to be one on my first real Burlesque show, Cupcake Cutie. Those lovely sparkly cupcakes are actually christmas decorations from Stockmann, but I keep them on my kitchen all year round. They are so darn cute!

7. Leopard Print

Yes I am now very aware that I am completely insane. Actually when I was collecting these things that I have around my house that have leopard print on it and saw how retarded they look all together I just couldn't do anything but say to myself out loud that I have now lost it. Anyway, it was a few years back when I swore that I would never wear any animal prints.. and look what happened? I'm also planning on tattooing some of that print on myself, but we'll see..

oh and there are plenty of stuff missing from that photo like my 7 pairs leggings that have a different type of leopard print in them. Oh dear.

8. Movies

Me and my mister are fanatic movie people, mostly we like to watch movies in our home since we have this 46 inch flat screen.. anyway we rent a lot of movies from different kind of genres. Now this might sound bad, but I'm a sucker for Nazi-movies.. Not because I would agree or anything with the whole nazi-idea but because usually those movies are the most touching ones, since they are really sad and you just think how horrobul things have been. My absolutely favourite movie from this genre is The Pianist, of course it's not a bad thing that my true love Adrian is in it, but it is also the most touching movie I have ever seen. Can not watch it without crying. (oh and the other thing about the movies about nazis and why I like the flicks, is the ladies with their perfect hair and outfits and oh!). Another good movie about nazis is a film from Netherlands called Black Book (Zwartboek), I highly recommend!

9. Zombies

This one goes along quite well with that whole movie-theme since I do like my splatter zombie movies, but I am a true fan of zombies, I think they are the coolest bad guys there are! Forget about the way too handsome vampires and the boring werewolves, Zombies are the answer, yay!

A real summer birthday party

The Scenery below is the one that I woke up to last friday. It was 7 am and there was still some fog around and it was simply blissfull. Well I had to get up and do my here and get ready for the long awaited day! My mom and dad's 120th birthday party (I believe you got it 60 + 60..ehh).

So I changed into these sceneries and the party was held at an old dance hall and it was just amazing.

(the place was filled with these old commercial posters! I wanted to have all of them!)

And let's not forget the birthday couple, my lovely mom and dad!

Productive day

Since it looked like that outside today, I though I would be verry productive and come home a little earlier from work (though I have plenty of stuff to do there as well)

I did some cleaning, like for instance:

"Organized" my closet (read: took the clothes from the floor and tried to fit them in to the closet) This part that is showing to you is just my dresses/skirts section and it seems I can't buy anymore of them in a while.. sigh!

And while cleaning, I found a lost friend! Now it hangs around next to my grandparents on our tv-table.

After cleaning I made some food. Mm-mm!

Oh and something random to the end. We burlesque stars seem to suffer from severe bruising. Though this particular one came in a burlesque party but not while I was on stage (and the accident didn't include alcohol nor high heels so don't even start people!), it actually happened when I was trying to decorate the Mustalahti harbour last friday and the stool I was standing on decided to make a suicide and take me with it. Darn!

Let's just hope it goes away until next weekends performance..
